Tell us your name and a little about yourself.
My name is Clayton Alexander. I am an Investment Advisor and President of Teton Wealth Group. I live near Park City, UT with my wife and 3 daughters. I love helping people and enjoying the outdoors.
Why did you become an entrepreneur, speaker, author, etc. in the first place?
Early in my career, I recognized that I had the ability to help lift and provide value for the people around me through financial planning. The peace of mind that families get from having a holistic, well thought out financial plan is what drives me to do what I do. I love helping people accomplish their goals and dreams in retirement.
Tell us, how do you deal with fear?
I trust that if I continue to try and do the right thing, time after time, life seems to work out. That doesn’t mean that hardships and trials won’t come, but knowing that I have done all I can, I leave the rest in God’s hands.
Tell us, how do you deal with rejection?
As long as I try to leave every person I come in contact with feeling better or more educated about their planning, then I feel like I have done what I can. I’m not the best fit for everybody and that’s ok.
What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?
My biggest challenge was and still is figuring out who I am, and then defining who I want to become. It’s a nonstop process and I rely on the guidance from God, my family and business mentors to help me overcome and accomplish my goals.
What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?
It’s ok to struggle for a while. That’s where you learn and really develop the traits you need to be successful.
Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?
JJ Watts because he has become a master of what he does, and he gives back to his community in so many ways.
Name a person who helped you along the way?
My Father. He taught me how to work hard, have good character, and really serve those that you work with.
What do you see as your greatest success in life, so far?
Raising three daughters, having a successful healthy relationship with my wife, and owning a growing business that supports my family and the families of my coworkers.
What book would you recommend and why?
“The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. It teaches you how to develop good principals and then build upon them.
What’s a personal self-talk, mantra, affirmation or self-belief that contributes to your success?
Do what is right.
What’s the name of your company? What exactly does your company do, how do you help people?
Teton Wealth Group is a retirement planning and wealth management firm. We have developed the four-step Ascent Plan, which is a system to help clients gain clarity and perspective on creating a financial plan for safe, secure and tax-efficient retirement income and estate transition.
